Design Lead on 2 Rooms

L’Exhibition[niste], a traveling retrospective on Christian Louboutin’s legacy, debuted in Paris in 2020. I was responsible for the design of two rooms: “Salle des Trésors,” inspired by a tower on Louboutin’s Portuguese property designed by Tarek Shamma (itself referencing the Jantar Mantar observatory in Jaipur), which I reimagined within an exhibition setting; and a second space created to showcase an immersive film commissioned from New Zealand artist Lisa Reihana.

Musée Imaginaire

Role(s):

Scenography, Lead 3D Designer

The largest room in the exhibition, “Musée Imaginaire” a room which curated Christian’s wide scope of design influences. I handled teasing out a narrative, by way of the layout, as we juxtaposed 19th C Kachina tools next to a headpiece worn by Josephine Baker, 2000BC Mummy Cartonnages with a Damien Hirst bust, and Byzantine crucifixes alongside one of Gilbert and George’s “Fates”. I learnt so much here on the required display conditions of pretty much every media existing.
